Consider the tremendous amount of force that is applied to the bones, joints, muscle tissue, and supportive ligaments and tendons, as they attempt to retain the normal position of the spine during a motor vehicle collision. This force may result in painful damage to these structures in the form of misalignment, muscle spasms, joint swelling, and much more.

 

As with any injury, the sooner the treatment for correction is started, the better the long term results. After an accident (motor vehicle collision, fall, sudden twisting motions, etc.) the goal should be to have an evaluation to locate any potential problems and begin correction, if needed.

 

Early treatment of an injury can decrease scar tissue and decrease the possibility of pain at a later time. Therefore, it is recommended that an exam be scheduled soon after an accident for an evaluation.
